PESSTO, the Public ESO Spectroscopic Survey of Transient Objects, and its extensions ePESSTO and ePESSTO+ have changed the way we carry out transient science at ESO. Virtually all of the ESO community working on supernovae (SNe) and unusual transients came together to run PESSTO, and in ePESSTO(+) we efficiently extended the science topics to include the gamma-ray burst (GRB) and nuclear transient communities. The ePESSTO breadth of science and strategy made it the most productive spectroscopic transient classifier in the last 2 years, keeping the ratio of transient discovery to classification almost steady, despite an increase in discovery rate of more than a factor of 3.

My research interests include supernova observations and simulations, and how we can combine the two fields.
